Training Programme on Digital Innovation of Cultural Heritage Launched
12.11.2025NewsThe introductory session presented key concepts related to 3D digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), and immersive storytelling, with a strong focus on their practical application in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. Participants explored how 3D digitalisation, using photogrammetry and laser scanning, enables high-accuracy documentation of historical sites, artefacts, and architectural elements. Such digital records support long-term conservation, virtual reconstruction, and accessible online presentation of heritage assets, particularly for vulnerable or remote locations.
The programme also addressed AI-driven tools for automating data processing, including object recognition in 3D point clouds, metadata generation, and content classification, enabling more efficient management of large digital heritage collections.
In addition, the workshop demonstrated how immersive storytelling, using 3D models in AR/VR experiences, interactive websites, and mobile applications, can enhance visitor engagement and accessibility, making cultural heritage more inclusive for diverse audiences.
Programme Structure and Next Steps
The training programme combines online, hybrid, and on-site sessions, allowing participants to build theoretical knowledge, apply new skills in practice, and engage directly with real-world applications. The series will continue with upcoming workshops focusing on 3D data capture, digital storytelling with 3D assets, data management, and a final hands-on workshop planned for June 2026.
